Discussion

This was the first of three spits excavated in the north-west corner of area 12AD, to define the sequence of enclosure ditches where they turned from a north-south to an east-west alignment. After 15cm, no distinction between this material (a sandy silty loam Munsell colour 10YR 4/3) and the individual ditches was noted, and 012AD05098 was subsequently excavated.
